PhD Counselor Education Program Upcoming Information Sessions

The Montclair State University PhD program in Counselor Education prepares culturally responsive scholars, faculty, advanced practitioners, clinical supervisors, and directors of counseling services in mental health and educational settings, and social justice counseling advocates to be leaders in maximizing the mental health and quality of life for individuals, families, communities, and educational organizations. Individuals with counselor education doctoral degrees work as:

  • Academic faculty members in higher education
  • Administrators and supervisors in health care agencies, nonprofit organizations, community agencies, private practice, employee assistance programs, K-12 schools, student affairs/academic affairs units in colleges and universities, and in businesses
  • Consultants for agencies on specific projects (e.g., as consultants to state departments of education concerning counseling outreach to underserved populations)
  • Program Evaluators
  • Researchers

Choosing a PhD program is a very important decision for you, your family, and the communities in which you work. As such, we would like to invite you to learn more about our program to determine whether our program is the right place for your scholarly pursuit of a doctorate in Counselor Education. We will be hosting information sessions on campus in University Hall throughout the fall semester to learn about our program and talk with faculty and current students. Following is information on upcoming information sessions.

Sunday, October 26th, 12:00-1:00 p.m. Graduate School Open House: To register for this session, please go to: http://www.montclair.edu/graduate/prospective-students/openhouse-20144/ for information about the Open House. To register for our breakout session, select Counselor Education (PhD) from the drop-down menus under "Program of Interest" and "Event Registration 12:00-1:00 Breakout Session."
