The Mathematics Education Seminar Series presents: Exploring Connections Between Content Knowledge, Pedagogical Content Knowledge, and Mathematics Topics Studied in Teacher Preparation Programs. This seminar will be presented by mathematics professor, Dr. Eileen Murray.

Past work on mathematics teachers' content knowledge (CK) and pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) has resulted in mixed findings about the strength of the relationship between and development of these constructs. The current study uses data from the Teacher Education and Development Study in Mathematics (TEDS-M) to examine the relationship between these knowledge types and the number of mathematics topics studied within teacher preparation programs across different countries. Our findings indicate that the relationships between these constructs are weaker than expected, with the exception of a few countries including Chile, Germany, Poland, theRussian Federation, Singapore, Thailand, and the United States.
