Patrick Haggerty serves as a Senior Academic Advisor in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences' Student Success Center at Montclair State University. In this role, he provides comprehensive academic advising and student support to undergraduate students across the college, with particular emphasis on first-year students, transfer students, and those on Academic Action. He is committed to fostering student success through proactive guidance, individualized support, and strategic academic planning.
In addition to his advising responsibilities, Patrick supports the Assistant Dean in the management and daily operations of the advising center. He also leads the coordination of student communications throughout the academic year, ensuring that messaging is timely, clear, and aligned with institutional priorities. Since the implementation of the Navigate platform, he has served as the college’s primary liaison, working closely with faculty and staff to support effective utilization of the system and enhance student engagement and retention efforts.
Patrick is also an instructor, teaching multiple sections of GNED 199: New Student Seminar and CHSC 299 - College to Career: Preparing for the World of Work during the fall and spring terms. In the classroom, he helps students develop essential academic, professional, and career readiness skills.
At the university level, Patrick is an active contributor to shared governance. He currently serves as a member of the University Senate representing CHSS professional staff (June 2025 – May 2028) and participates on both the Administrative Affairs Council and the Elections Committee.
