Yikyung Diana Hughes, pianist, holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Rutgers University. She earned both her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Piano Performance from the Mannes College of Music.
Originally from Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Hughes has performed extensively as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral pianist, and collaborative artist across South Korea, Spain, the United States, and Canada.
She began her teaching career at Taejon College in South Korea before returning to the United States to serve as Artist-in-Residence at York College in Pennsylvania. She later moved to Spain, where she became a founding member of Trio Internationale and performed as orchestral pianist with the Orquesta del Principado de Asturias.
In 1993, Dr. Hughes returned to New York to pursue her doctoral studies at Rutgers University, continuing to build an active career as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the greater New York area.
Dr. Hughes currently serves on the faculties of Montclair State University and Bergen Community College. She is also a piano accompanist with ARS Musica and the Rockland Camerata, and serves as Choir Director and Organist at the United Methodist Church of New City.
