Profile

Li-Chun Lin, Ph.D., is Professor in the Hospitality and Tourism Department at Montclair State University. She joined MSU in 2002 and was the leading force in creating and developing the Hospitality Management program, when she served as the program coordinator (2002-2011) and eventually took on the role of Department Chairperson of Management (2011-2019). Before joining MSU, she was a tenure-track faculty member at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Prior to her academic career, Dr. Lin worked in all facets of the hospitality and tourism industry including both management and line positions in the field of hotel, restaurant, and theme park.

As a dedicated researcher, she actively publishes in the field’s top journals and regularly presents at international conferences. Her research interests include hospitality and tourism education, travel behaviors, tourism/gaming impacts, hotel room revenue strategy and teaching case studies. Beyond conducting research, she is the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Teaching in Travel & Tourism (JTTT) and was the Co-Executive Editor of the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Cases (JHTC) from 2021 to 2022. Additionally, she serves on the Editorial Board of Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education (JHTE) and as a reviewer for several major research journals and international conferences. She is the award recipient of the 2021 Case Study Reviewer of the Year by the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (ICHRIE).

Dr. Lin is a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE), which is highly recognized by the hospitality industry and academia. She is one of the pioneer faculty members developing and delivering hybrid format and experiential learning courses at MSU. Dr. Lin has taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses, specializing in Hospitality Management, Lodging Management, Management Process, Human Resource Management, and International Experience.

Dr. Lin serves on the advisory board of the local community college and high school and has been elected as the Board of Directors of the International Society of Travel & Tourism Educators (ISTTE) in 2021 for a three-year term.
