Profile

Dr. Peters is a counselor educator with training in child, marriage, and couples counseling; clinical mental health counseling; and counseling and counselor education. Dr. Peters research focuses on counselor identity, counselor training and preparation, clinical supervision, anti-discrimination, and leadership and advocacy. He has authored over 45 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has presented more than 100 presentations at conferences across local, national, and international contexts. His scholarship reflects the use of multiple research approaches, with a specialization in qualitative methodology. Dr. Peters has also been actively involved in professional counseling associations, holding leadership positions that support the advancement of the counseling profession. In addition to his academic work, Dr. Peters has clinical experience in a variety of settings, including inpatient care, outpatient community clinics, and private practice, where he has worked with a range of client populations.
