Profile

Warren Rigby is the Coordinator for Civic & Voter Engagement at Montclair State University, where he provides strategic leadership for the university’s civic learning and democratic engagement portfolio. An alumnus of Montclair State University, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and his Master’s degree in Law and Governance, grounding his professional work in both theory and practice. Warren oversees a comprehensive suite of non-partisan initiatives that include voter registration, voter education, Get Out the Vote efforts, leadership development, and cross-sector partnerships with academic departments, student organizations, community groups, and state agencies. His work is rooted in equity, access, and institutionalization—ensuring that civic engagement is not an isolated activity, but a core component of the student experience.

Under Warren’s leadership, Montclair State University has achieved significant statewide and national recognition, including the 2025 Voter Friendly Campus designation and recognition by the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge as an Established Campus. For three consecutive years, Montclair’s Vote Everywhere student ambassadors have placed the university on the High Honor Roll for excellence in student-led democratic engagement, and the institution has consistently earned 3rd place in the New Jersey Ballot Bowl, a competitive statewide initiative sponsored by the New Jersey Secretary of State and the Lieutenant Governor’s Office. These accolades reflect sustained growth, measurable impact, and a culture of civic participation embedded across both the Montclair and Bloomfield campuses.

Warren began his service in the Office of Civic & Voter Engagement as Graduate Coordinator, where he built the operational infrastructure of the program, launched signature events, and established a campus-wide coalition model to support civic learning. In April 2025, he was hired full time as Coordinator, a transition that reflects both his leadership and the institutional commitment to expanding this work. In his current role, he continues to scale programs, secure external funding, integrate assessment through tools such as NSLVE and CAS standards, and advance long-term strategies that ensure civic engagement remains a permanent and visible pillar of student development at Montclair State University.

Disclaimer: The Office of Civic & Voter Engagement promotes informed civic participation in a strictly non-partisan manner and does not support or oppose any political party, candidate, or ballot initiative. All programs are educational, neutral, and inclusive.
