Brenda Sheehan is a highly skilled and experienced Graduate Program Administrator in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS), bringing extensive knowledge of higher education administration. With a rich history of roles spanning graduate admissions, doctoral program management, student services, and department administration, Brenda possesses a deep understanding of the unique needs of both undergraduate and graduate students.

In her current capacity, Brenda works collaboratively with faculty, students, and staff to create and sustain an enriching and supportive graduate student experience. As an integral member of the CHSS Student Success team, she serves as a critical liaison between CHSS, Graduate Program Coordinators (GPCs), Graduate Admissions, The Graduate School, the Office of Global Engagement, and the Office of the Registrar. Through her efforts, she ensures streamlined communication and operational efficiency across these departments, advancing academic objectives while strengthening student success initiatives.

Before taking on her current role, Brenda served as the Department Administrator for Justice Studies within CHSS, where she provided both administrative leadership and hands-on support to faculty and students. This role allowed her to hone her expertise in navigating complex departmental needs. Earlier in her career, Brenda managed doctoral programs in the former College of Education & Human Services, further solidifying her foundation in graduate-level program administration and student-centered services.

Brenda is instrumental in supporting Graduate Program Coordinators by facilitating comprehensive training, managing advisor assignments, and monitoring student progress to ensure timely program completion. Her role also includes assisting with program reporting, resolving student-related concerns, and driving continuous improvement by refining program-level procedures and practices. Her strategic oversight helps streamline administrative operations while enhancing the overall graduate student experience.

In addition to her graduate program responsibilities, Brenda works closely with the CHSS Success Center Team to support undergraduate enrollment initiatives. She plays a key role in the registration process for incoming freshmen, demonstrating her ability to manage both graduate and undergraduate student services effectively.

With her extensive experience, commitment to student success, and passion for fostering an inclusive academic environment, Brenda remains dedicated to creating a supportive and well-organized space for students, faculty, and staff to thrive. Her work continues to have a lasting impact on the quality and effectiveness of programs within CHSS.
