In the role of Vice President for Student Development and Campus Life, Dr. Soufleris (or "Dr. S" to the students) oversees SDCL which provides access, support, and encouragement to all students in pursuit of academic excellence in the Montclair State University’s diverse community. The division hosts a variety of engagement and support offices for students, including Residence Life, Center for Student Involvement (club, organizations and Greek Life), Commuter Engagement, the Office of Student Belonging, Social Justice and Diversity, Athletics & Recreation, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), the Student Health Center, Student Communications, Student Conduct, the Disability Resource Center, Veteran Services, Campus Ministry, and MSU’s University Police Department and Emergency Management Services. In addition, the division has responsibility for Dining Services, the Campus Bookstore, and the Sprague, Yogi Berra and Red Bull stadiums. Dr. Soufleris is assisted in SDCL by the /Associate Vice President/Dean of Students a Senior Associate and Associate Dean of Students, who serve along side the Vice President as advocates on behalf of all Montclair students.

As a first generation college student, Dr. Soufleris is keenly aware of the need for students to feel supported and engaged while in college, and how important it is for all students to feel a sense of belonging. The programs and services within SDCL provide MSU students with the skills and support necessary to be successful in both their academic and social development.

Dr. Soufleris holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Buffalo and has spent over 30 years in the field of higher education, with a focus on college student development. Her areas of interest and research include Title IX, student development theory and the transition to college life, first generation students, crisis management and the impact of student engagement on retention.
