Dr. Frances Stromsland is currently an Associate Professor (non-tenure track faculty) in the Graduate School of Education, Montclair State University, College of Education and Engaged Learning, in the Educational Leadership Masters' program, preparing emerging school leaders for administrative positions. She retired as superintendent, serving Watchung Hills Regional High School district (Somerset County). She served in leadership roles directing and supervising staff and students receiving general, special education and pupil services programs for the Plainfield, and Cranford Public Schools. In addition, she provided interim Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and Director services for North Brunswick, Piscataway Township, and Montclair, Little Silver and Holmdel Public school districts.
Dr. Stromsland was named Special Services Director of the Year by NJAPSA and Superintendent of the Year (Somerset) by NJASA. She collaboratively authored an article on social justice and equity focusing on high school students, which was published by Kappa Delta Pi Record (Kappan). This work was also honored by NJASA in receiving the Flanzbaum award twice and received national recognition from Facing History and Ourselves.
In the CEEL, Dr Stromsland currently serves on the CEEL TFPAC committee and Curriculum Committee.
Dr. Stromsland provides consultant and interim services to public school districts in the areas of general and special education and is a certified NJASA School Leader/Chief School Administrator mentor. Dr. Stromsland was a board member/trustee for the George Street Playhouse., New Brunswick NJ., which is now part of the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center ( NBPAC). Dr. Stromsland is a long -time advocate, and Advisory Board Member for and supporter of the Center for Great Expectations, Somerset N.J. Dr. Stromsland is currently serving as the Chairman of the Board of Advisors for Holy Cross Academy, Rumson NJ.
