Profile
DR. VIEGA, who received his Ph.D. from Temple University in 2013, joined the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University ini 2018. He is an Associate Professor of Music in Music Therapy, and the Undergraduate Coordinator. Dr. Viega has published and presented internationally on a wide range of topics such as Hip Hop and music therapy, arts-based research methodologies, digital technology and therapeutic songwriting, and music therapy and adolescent development. He is an editor of the newly released 2nd Edition of The Music Therapy Handbook. As a music therapy clinician, he has worked extensively with children and adolescents who have experienced childhood adversity and trauma, and is a Fellow in the Association of Music and Imagery. He serves on the editorial board for Voices: A World Forum for Music Therapy.
