You’ll examine age-old tales from ancient cultures as well as contemporary narratives that drive modern culture and media. You’ll gain insights into narrative and symbolism – skills highly valued in humanities fields, education, film, psychology and even marketing or branding.
Myth Studies is interdisciplinary, drawing on subjects like literature, religious studies, philosophy, drama, art and psychology. You’ll dive into everything from Greek and Roman mythology to Celtic mythology, Native American religions, and the symbolism found in today’s movies and video games.

Related Programs
Montclair State University offers a BA in Asian Languages and Cultures, with other language minors in Japanese and Korean. The Classics and General Humanities Department offers programs that aim to examine the culture, ideas and values of earlier civilizations with a view to promoting an understanding of the recurrent patterns but also enormous diversity of human culture.
