The Portuguese Studies minor offers a unique combination of literary, linguistic and cultural experiences for undergraduate students. Here, in the cradle of one of the largest Luso-Brazilian communities in the country, the program will open the door for you to communicate and interact socially with people on four continents.
Spoken by more than 230 million people, Portuguese is the fastest-growing language in social media and one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Open to students of any major, the minor in Portuguese Studies is an 18-credit interdisciplinary program that allows you to explore the rich heritage and contemporary trends of Luso-Brazilian language, literature and culture. You will take a minimum of 9 credit hours of specific courses taught in Portuguese and complete the remaining credit hours with courses either in Portuguese or in English.
