Biology is the science of life and includes an array of sub-disciplines such as ecology, botany, zoology, physiology, anatomy, genetics, microbiology and molecular biology. You may be a good fit for the BA in Biology if you want a broad foundation in biological sciences, while pursuing skills in science communication, community health, or environmental policy. The major launched in Fall 2024 to broaden access to STEM, offering a more flexible, arts-integrated approach to biology. It consists of 48 core credits and an 18-21 credit non‑CSAM minor chosen by the student. The program also includes a 4 credit community-engaged service learning experience and a 1 capstone course. Unlike the BS in Biology, the BA in Biology streamlines chemistry and physics requirements, which is ideal for learners aiming at careers with a science focus but with less emphasis on dense lab science. Graduates are well prepared for employment in pharmaceutical research, clinical trials support, science writing, and law. If desired, you can opt to take the necessary courses to apply for Medical or Dental School. See the curriculum.
