Africana Studies

Minor

An art gallery exhibition featuring paintings and sculptures with an African influence

Want to understand the global impact of African history and culture?

In the Africana Studies minor, you’ll explore the histories, cultures, and experiences of people of African descent across the globe. You’ll examine race, identity, diaspora and social justice while diving deep into the legacy of colonialism, slavery, and resistance movements.

Courses in history, literature, sociology, religion, and the arts will give you a well-rounded view of the African diaspora and its global impact. Along the way, you’ll sharpen your ability to think critically about culture, equity, and interconnectedness — skills that apply to any career that values global awareness and social responsibility.
