Are you interested in the world beyond the borders of the United States? Do you want a better understanding of international economic, political, social and cultural affairs? Then the minor in International Studies may be for you!
Open to students of any major, the International Studies minor is a 21-credit interdisciplinary program that particularly complements majors in the humanities, social sciences, arts, and business. In the program, you will examine the complex and subtle interrelationships that exist among nations in our increasingly interdependent global system. The program’s combination of issues-oriented courses, an emphasis on area studies, as well as solid competence in a language, will give you a superb foundation for careers in which an understanding of international affairs is important.
Choose an area to study that interests you most: Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, or the Middle East. With the knowledge gained through the program, together with your chosen world language, you will be well-prepared for employment opportunities in education, government, law, communications, business, non-governmental organizations, philanthropic organizations, and private voluntary organizations.
