Montclair’s Journalism and Digital Media program will prepare you to create powerful, accurate stories for today’s fast-paced media world. You’ll learn to write, report, and produce content for television, radio, the web, social media and emerging platforms.
Core courses in news writing, multimedia production, field reporting, and ethics will sharpen your storytelling and critical thinking skills. You’ll also explore exciting electives like The Entertainment Beat, Cross-Platform Sports Writing, Media Entrepreneurship, and Apps for Journalists to build expertise in areas that match your interests.
You’ll train in our high-definition studios and newsrooms, learning from faculty with decades of real-world experience who are dedicated to your growth. Outside the classroom, internships and practicum experiences will connect you with industry professionals and give you a head start in your career.

Our students don’t just finish projects. They report on the biggest stories around the world – and they do it at an award-winning level. Explore the work our students produce, such as our award-winning #Focus series that tackles issues and important times in our history, including Presidential Elections, stories from the Arizona/Mexico border and climate change.

Montclair’s News Lab is where students honing their skills in video, audio, print, production and reporting come together to create news and entertainment content.
Students get hands-on experience covering Montclair’s 18 NCAA Division III athletics teams using our state-of-the-art facilities and technology while learning from experienced sports communication faculty.

Our students scored two Emmy-style honors at college television’s biggest night, with students taking the stage twice at the Television Academy Foundation’s 44th College Television Awards on April 5, 2025, in Los Angeles.
