The BS in Sustainability Science is a STEM-designated program that prepares you to address the environmental, social, and economic challenges of building a sustainable future. This interdisciplinary program combines coursework in environmental science, resource management, data analysis, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with hands-on experience.

You’ll learn to analyze environmental problems, develop sustainable solutions, and use scientific tools to support decision-making for communities, businesses, and governments. Fieldwork, research opportunities, and access to state-of-the-art labs give you practical skills that employers value.

Graduates are prepared for careers in environmental consulting, renewable energy, conservation, and sustainability planning. You can also choose combined BS/MS or BS/MBA pathways to accelerate your graduate education and expand your career options in sustainability science or business administration.

Combined Degree Programs

Accelerated options let you begin graduate coursework as an undergraduate, enabling you to complete a master’s degree in Sustainability Science or Business Administration in less time. These programs save money and prepare you for leadership roles in environmental science or management.

The combined BS/MS program in Sustainability Science allows you to complete two degrees in 5-years. A total of 12 graduate credit hours apply to both the bachelor’s and master's degree. This program is designed for high-achievers who are prepared to begin graduate level coursework while still seniors, as they begin exploring topics for a master’s thesis or applied internship project.

The 4+1 Bachelor’s/MBA is a five year program, during which you will spend three years taking courses required for your chosen bachelor’s degree program. In your fourth year, along with your required undergraduate program courses, you'll complete 6 credits worth of graduate business (MBA) coursework to meet undergraduate degree requirements that count toward your MBA. In the fifth year, take only graduate courses required for an MBA, in a full-time format.
