Have you taken a 24 or 40 hour OSHA HAZWOPER course, and need to renew your certification?

Don't be out of compliance with OSHA regulations! This full-day training course meets the requirements outlined in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 for 8 (eight) hours of annual refresher training for workers at hazardous waste sites. This program is designed for general site workers who remove hazardous waste or who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances or health hazards and who have already taken the HAZWOPER 24-hour or HAZWOPER 40-hour certification training. This program covers topics pertaining to workplace hazards associated with Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER).

Topics Include:
HAZWOPER regulations, site characterization, toxicology, hazard recognition, personal protective equipment, decontamination, medical surveillance, confined space entry and emergency procedures and will include a combination of lectures, class exercises and hands-on training.

Instructor:
David Sweeney is the former Assistant Commissioner of the NJDEP Site Remediation Program which oversees the investigation and clean-up of contaminated sites in New Jersey. He has worked on revisions to the Site Remediation Program’s Technical Regulations and associated Technical Guidance documents. These efforts are related to the implementation of the Licensed Site Remediation Professional Program. During his 25 year tenure at the NJDEP, he was the Chief of the Bureau of Emergency Response (BER) responsible for all major discharges of oil and hazardous materials in New Jersey, he was also Bureau Chief of technical support in the areas of geology and hydrogeology for cases in the Site Remediation, as well as Section Chief and Case Manager in the Bureau of State Case Management overseeing waste site remediation. His experience involves various complex site remediation cases undertaken in New Jersey including CERCLA, RCRA, ISRA, Spill Act and Voluntary clean ups. Prior to working at NJDEP, Mr. Sweeney was employed by the Camden County Health Department for fourteen years. At Camden County he managed environmental programs under the County Environmental Health Act including Emergency Response and was the manager of their environmental laboratory. Mr. Sweeney's background is in environmental science and public health with a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science. Mr. Sweeney is an instructor at Camden County Fire Academy and holds a level two instructor certification from the Division of Fire Safety. He has instructed hazardous materials courses for the New Jersey State Police and National Fire Academy.

Certificate of Training:
A Certificate of Training and a wallet card will be provided to each participant who completes the course.
