In 2004, Italian sculptor Dionisio Cimarelli left for China where he lived nine years, honing his art. In a recent interview, Cimarelli comments: “Italy is the nation in the west with cultural ties closest to China. An Italian would never feel out of his element in China. There are many things common to both countries: the meaning of family, traditions, sitting down to do business together especially after having established a friendly relationship. Not surprisingly in China the two most famous historical figures from the West are Italian: Marco Polo and Matteo Ricci.”

Dionisio Cimarelli boasts wide international experience and is one of the most well-known Italian sculptors who exercised, for about nine years, his artistic activity in China. Born in Jesi (Ancona, Italy), he holds a BFA in Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara. He also studied at the Repin Institute of Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, Czech Republic. He participated in restoration projects at the Louvre Museum in Paris, the Royal Church in Copenhagen, the Royal Palace in Stockholm, and at Strasbourg Cathedral in Strasbourg, France.

He has received important scholarships from such organizations as the National Sculpture Society and the New York Art Academy (both in New York City). He has been invited as guest professor at the Wimbledon School of Art in London and at King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He has also participated in several conferences at prestigious academic international institutions. He held a solo exhibition at Berlin Philharmonic in Berlin at the invitation of world- renowned Maestro Claudio Abbado. Currently he is Adjunct Faculty at the New York Academy of Art for MFA program and Sculpture Faculty at The Arts Students League of New York.

He has been represented by the following medias: CCTV , Shanghai TV, RAI 3, CNBC Italy, Oriental TV, New Haven University Radio, CUNY TV, SinoVision TV, and RAI Italia, Xinhua media group. He has been written about in Panorama, Rai International, Arab News, Al-Jazirah, LIFE Magazine in China, Domus China, China Daily, Liberation Daily, China Sculpture Magazine, Casa & Design, Shanghai Daily, LIFE & PEOPLE, and La Voce di New York.
