Vaudeville and Silent Films Lives at Montclair State University
Chad Smith, Adjunct Professor of Saxophone at MSU
Sax-O-Philm: Sounds & Sights of the 20's, a unique multimedia, concert experience which recreates the atmosphere of the 1920’s, will be presented at Montclair State University as part of the Film Institute Series.
It features the music of Vaudeville saxophonist Rudy Wiedoeft, as performed on both alto and c melody saxophones by Broadway and recording artist, Chad Smith. Sax-O-Philm will transport audiences back to a time during which radio, ragtime, silent flicks, and flappers were all the rage. Projected silent films and photo montages feature screen legends like Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, Mabel Normand, Harry Houdini and countless others. Guest artists Lynette Wardle on harp and Ron Stabinsky on piano accompany Wiedoeft’s music, and also perform as featured soloists. Sax-O-Philm is great for all ages, a wonderful reminiscence of the Sounds & Sights of the 20's for those who lived them, or an exciting introduction to those who didn’t.
This is a one-of-a-kind performance that shouldn’t be missed!
