Martina Evans is a highly acclaimed, witty and subtle Irish poet now living in London.
The youngest of ten children, she grew up in Burnfort, Co Cork, in a house that included her parents' pub, shop, and petrol station. Evans is also a novelist and essayist, but she is best known for her twelve books of poetry.  Her many awards include an Arts Council England Award, the  Premio Ciampi International Prize for Poetry, and a Grants for the Arts Award.  Burnfort, Las Vegas was shortlisted for the Irish Times Poetry Now Award.  Her most recent volume, Now We Can Speak Openly About Men, has received rave reviews. This will be Evans's first visit to the United States.
