A four part screening and lecture series with acclaimed film critic Stephen Whitty. "Nobody knows anything" was screenwriter William Goldman's famous summation of Hollywood, but Goldman must have known something to have the career that he did -- two dozen produced screenplays, two Oscars and numerous other awards. We'll spend four Sundays looking at this late legend's famous films, and his own insights into the art of storytelling.

Marathon Man (1976) - Goldman wrote this best seller, then adapted it for the screen. It went on to feature standout performances by Dustin Hoffman and Laurence Olivier, but it took four drafts before director John Schlesinger and Hoffman were satisfied. Goldman's original ending was rewritten by another great screenwriter, Robert Towne. A gruesome, gripping spy thriller.

Free and open to the public. Please reserve your seat here: Marathon Man

Sundays with William Goldman is presented as part of the Linda and George Hiltzik Screening Series.
