Catherine Keohane is the Associate Director for Teaching and Learning in the Office for Faculty Excellence. She works with faculty of all ranks to advance their teaching, address teaching challenges, and implement new strategies in their classes. Catherine has designed and taught upper- and lower-division literature, humanities, and composition courses, and has experience teaching in multiple modalities. She has presented on student engagement at MLA, and has developed open-educational resources that work to mitigate financial barriers to students’ success while also serving students' sense of belongingness. Her scholarship includes literary studies, writing assessment, and outcomes assessment. Her composition textbook, Intersections: A Thematic Reader for Writers, co-authored with Emily Isaacs, is published by Bedford/ St. Martin’s. She has published articles in ELH, Writing Program Administration, Studies in the Novel, and Studies in Eighteenth-Century Culture, and has presented papers at conferences including MLA, CCCC, and ASECS. She is currently working on a book-length project about charity and debt in eighteenth-century British literature. She previously served as Director for Writing Placement in the First-Year Writing Program.
