Profile

Dr. Cyril S. Ku is a Research Scientist for the Healthcare Approaches to Justice Collaborative (HAJC: https://www.montclair.edu/chss/about-the-college/chss-initiatives/healthcare-approaches-to-justice-collaborative/) at Montclair State University. He is a Professor of Computer Science at William Paterson University (WPU). Dr. Ku earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Northwestern University, where he specialized in deductive databases. Before his academic career, he spent more than a decade in industry at leading organizations, including Bellcore (Bell Communications Research), AT&T, and IBM, gaining extensive experience in applied computing and systems development.

At WPU, Dr. Ku served two consecutive terms as Chairperson of the Computer Science Department, during which he led the department through its first successful ABET accreditation. He is the founder and director of the Data Science Research Lab, where he conducts advanced research in data science, big data analytics, natural language processing, text and data mining, machine learning, and software engineering.

Dr. Ku is particularly interested in interdisciplinary collaboration and currently leads or contributes to joint research projects with faculty and scientists at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine, Montclair State University, and Seton Hall University.
