Profile

Jason Mandel is an Assistant Teaching Professor at Montclair State University, where he focuses on how storytelling, branding, and hidden influence in strategic communication shape the way audiences connect with ideas, brands, and institutions. His teaching style emphasizes interaction, collaboration, and applied learning, encouraging students to experiment with creative approaches while grounding their work in real-world strategy.

Jason brings 25 years of experience in advertising and marketing to his role. He began his career on the agency side as a Copywriter and rose to become a Creative Director, shaping campaigns for global brands such as Heineken, Dos Equis, HP, and various PepsiCo products. He later transitioned to the client side, serving as Senior Vice President of Global Marketing at GARP (the Global Association of Risk Professionals), where he directed brand and communications strategy worldwide.

He holds a BA in Film Studies from Hofstra University and an MBA from Ramapo College. Building on his professional background, his academic interests now center on the ways artificial intelligence is reshaping advertising and how hidden influence operates in strategic communication. These areas of study allow him to bring fresh insights into the classroom while preparing students to navigate a rapidly evolving media and marketing landscape.
