Denise O’Shea is the Dean of University Libraries at Montclair State University, where she leads strategic planning, organizational development, and the advancement of library services that support the academic mission of our institution. Before her appointment as Dean, Denise served as Associate Dean for Collections and Discovery, and she previously led the Access Services and Resource Sharing department within Sprague Library, shaping user centered services, modernizing systems, and championing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility across library operations. Her earlier roles at Fairleigh Dickinson University, the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, New York Public Library, and in the private sector reflect a long-standing commitment to technology driven solutions, staff development, and collaborative leadership.
Denise holds degrees from Rutgers University and Montclair State University, along with a certificate in Library Leadership and Administration from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is professionally active and widely recognized for her contributions to library technology, service innovation, and organizational leadership.
