Profile
Stephanie Spitz received her MFA in Studio Art from Montclair State University and a BFA in Painting from Drake University, and is currently enrolled in the MA Higher Education program at Montclair. She has worked as the Department of Art and Design Administrator for nearly a decade executing the strategic operations for over 100 faculty and nearly 1000 major students.
Stephanie additionally serves the University through leadership and service engagement. She is currently the President of the Disability Caucus, and is continuing as a statewide Council Delegate for the Council of New Jersey State College Locals, AFT 1904. Stephanie serves as a committee member on the University Collaborative for Inclusive Excellence, the Civic Participation and Public Purpose Council, and the Mental Health and Wellbeing Taskforce, among others.
Stephanie's research and practice areas include: higher education; anti-fat discrimination; equity-mindedness; arts administration;, and disability studies.
Teaching areas include: ARAN 190 Intro to Visual Arts for non majors; GNED 199 Freshman Seminar courses for Art and Design majors; She has also co-led spring break study abroad trips with Fashion and Visual Arts majors in Italy and France.
Stephanie is available during the academic year Mondays-Fridays 9:00am-5:00pm in Calcia Hall 122.
