Montclair’s innovative Musical Theatre program gives you intensive training in acting, singing and dance while preparing you for professional careers on stage.
Through a combination of classroom instruction and performance opportunities, this combined program between our College of the Arts and the John J. Cali School of Music helps you develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the industry as true “triple threat” performers.
You’ll build a strong foundation in acting through scene study and character work, while vocal training and musical theatre repertoire classes strengthen your singing and performance skills. Dance courses in ballet, tap and jazz will help you move with precision, style and expression.
You’ll also gain practical experience in audition techniques, performance production, and ensemble work, learning how to bring a show to life from start to finish while collaborating with fellow performers. Graduates leave ready to perform on Broadway in regional theatre, touring productions and beyond.
If you love singing, dancing and acting and want to bring stories to life on stage, then this program is for you.
Accreditation: Our BFA Musical Theatre program meets the rigorous standards of the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) – a distinction that places us among the nation’s most competitive programs. See the curriculum.
