Jessica C. Murphy is the inaugural Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, Success, and Academic Innovation and Associate Professor of English at Montclair State University. Her comprehensive portfolio at Montclair integrates academic success, undergraduate education, career connections, and two new areas: the center for teaching and academic innovation and the office of student success research and insights.

A first-generation college graduate from the Bronx, Dr. Murphy earned her BA from Hunter College and MA/PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Prior to Montclair, she spent fifteen years at a prior institution, serving seven as Dean of Undergraduate Education. Dr. Murphy's dedication to student success is rooted in her belief in education's transformative power.
