Healthcare professionals with strong Spanish-language skills are in high demand, and our Graduate Certificate in Spanish for Health Professionals can help you rise to the challenge.
Launched in Fall 2025, Spanish for Health Professionals is a 12-credit certificate program that can be completed entirely online or through in-person courses, depending on student preference. It welcomes both Montclair graduate students and non-degree-seeking learners from outside the University.
Designed to equip bilingual students with the language and cultural skills needed to thrive in healthcare settings, the program curriculum includes two required courses, one elective, and a hands-on internship that strengthens your ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with Spanish-speaking patients.
Whether you’re already working in healthcare or pursuing a health-related degree, this program gives you the tools to reduce language barriers, improve patient outcomes, and provide more equitable care. Coursework focuses on real-world vocabulary, practical communication strategies, and cultural context that can make the difference in clinical interactions.
The certificate appears on your official transcript and complements a wide range of career paths, including medicine, nursing, social work, public health, and allied health professions.
Aligned with Montclair’s mission as a Hispanic-Serving Institution, this program helps prepare students to serve diverse communities with confidence and care. You’ll graduate better equipped to serve diverse populations—and stand out as a bilingual professional ready to lead in today’s healthcare landscape.
