Application deadline: March 15

The Urban Teacher Project (UTP), formerly known as the Newark Teacher Project (NTP), is a small cohort of teacher education students placed together for the fall and spring semesters of their student teaching year with a focus on social justice and urban education.

Open to students in the teacher education programs, UTP students are placed in classrooms throughout Newark and Orange with carefully selected mentor teachers. UTP seminars support all areas of teacher development with a special focus on social and racial justice. The small cohort provides support and community and has access to many special events and high-quality antiracist professional development.

All admitted teacher education students ready to begin their clinical year in the fall are welcome to apply.

Interviews and decisions will be made in April.
