What We Do
Montclair State University’s First-Generation Initiatives provide support services, resources and community to First-Generation College Students (FGS or First-Gen) and their family members. A First-Gen is considered to be the first in their immediate family to go to college, or the first in their immediate family to complete a bachelor’s degree. Here at MSU, approximately 48% of incoming students identify as First-Gen.
Through engagement programming, First-Gen Initiatives is dedicated to supporting students and families throughout their academic journey.
