Montclair State University's core business is about generating ideas and making discoveries that make our world a better place. But as New Jersey’s second-largest university, we are also a major employer that makes a measurable direct impact on the economic health and well-being of our state. This impact totaled $1.1 billion in 2015 alone.

Just as important, we produce New Jersey’s workforce for tomorrow. Many of the 4,616 members of the Class of 2015 joined the ranks of our 86,000 alumni who currently live in New Jersey. These alumni help New Jersey successfully compete in the global marketplace as a state that is rich in knowledge workers and knowledge activities.

Montclair State University employs thousands of people and is a major purchaser of goods and services from in-state vendors. Our current $421 million, five-year capital investment initiative has provided jobs for New Jersey workers. Our more than 20,000 students support state and local economies through their spending, while the academic degrees we confer on our graduates enhance their earning — and spending — power and benefit the state.
