Wendy W. Lin-Cook, PhD, has been appointed Vice President for Enrollment Management effective June 1, 2020. This newly-created role will provide oversight to the full range of the University’s enrollment activities, including admissions, financial aid, and student registration services, unifying several key functions that currently report to different vice presidents.

A veteran higher education admissions and recruitment administrator, Lin-Cook joins Montclair State from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) where she served as Associate Provost, Enrollment Management, and Academic Services. Previously she served as Associate Vice President of Admissions at Seton Hall University from 2011 to 2015, and Dean of Adult and Graduate Admissions at Felician College from 2005 to 2011.

“This is a critically important leadership role for the University,” said President Susan A. Cole. “Montclair State depends on tuition and fees for 77% of our operating budget, and given the great uncertainty caused by the current circumstances, it is all the more vital that we take a strategic, well-coordinated effort to managing our enrollment.”

“Dr. Lin-Cook brings the right combination of skills and experiences to this role. Her energy and optimism make her a great fit,” Cole added.

With an impressive track record of increasing student enrollment at each of the institutions where she has worked, Lin-Cook is highly regarded for her broad strategic thinking and organizational skills. At NJIT, she led the complete revamping and reimagining of the Offices of University Admissions, Registrar, Student Financial Aid, and Student Persistence and Re-Enrollment, guiding them to leverage new technologies, improve student services and meet enrollment goals, while enhancing the profile of the student class and increasing student retention and graduation rates.

“I am extremely excited about having this opportunity to work at Montclair State University,” Lin-Cook said. “I am attracted by the University’s dedication to its students and its commitment to student success. I am looking forward to getting to know my new colleagues and working with all members of the campus community to fulfill Dr. Cole’s strategic vision.”

As Vice President, Lin-Cook will oversee the newly created division of Enrollment Management, which will include Undergraduate Admissions; Student Financial Aid; the Office of the Registrar; Red Hawk Central, the University’s centralized access point for integrated student services; Summer and Winter sessions; programs for non-matriculated students; and enrollment management data and technology. In addition, through a consultative relationship with the Dean of The Graduate School, she will support the integration of graduate enrollment strategies into the University’s comprehensive enrollment plans.

Lin-Cook earned a PhD in Higher Education Leadership, Management and Policy from Seton Hall University, and an MA in Humanities and a BBA in Banking and Finance from Hofstra University.
