To celebrate the University’s diverse and dynamic Latinx community during Hispanic Heritage Month, the Office of University Communications and Marketing created this video featuring Katia Paz Goldfab, assistant vice president for Hispanic Serving Initiatives, and a group of students sharing the college experience at Montclair State.

“Montclair State’s recognition as an Hispanic-Serving Institution emphasizes the University’s commitment to Latinx students and their families in increasing access to college, and achieving academic and career success,” says Paz Goldfarb.

Highlights include the Hispanic Student College Institute, a summer program that provides college planning, career guidance and parent workshops, and which serves as an introduction to Montclair State for many of the students while in high school.

Once in college, the University’s support continues with mentoring and advising to help the students reach their personal, educational and professional goals, Paz Goldfarb says.

Student stories share a common thread: A determination to make the most of college, to succeed and get their degrees – for themselves and for their families.
