Montclair kicks off Women’s History Month with a flag-raising ceremony

The Montclair State University community and the Office for Social Justice and Diversity kicked off Women’s History Month with a flag-raising ceremony honoring women and this year’s national theme “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion,” on Monday, March 4.

Upcoming Women’s History Month Events

March 6, 2024 – Women’s Appreciation Dinner

The sisters of the Matriarca chapter of the Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Inc., will host a dinner where women of all cultural backgrounds are welcome to come and enjoy music and cultural foods to celebrate Women’s Appreciation Day. Montclair students will be charged a fee of $3 and $5 for non students. All attendees are welcome to bring three feminine hygiene products to replace the attendance fee. Products will be donated to Oasis, a safe haven for women and children. March 6, 2024, 7 – 11 p.m., Student Center 251 Dining Room.

March 7, 2024

EATS by Gourmet Dining is celebrating Women’s History Month, recognizing renowned and accomplished women in the culinary arts throughout history. March 7, 2024, 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Student Center Dining Room. Don’t miss out on this all-you-care-to-eat experience, and make sure to come hungry

March 8, 2024 – Circle K General International/OSJD Women’s Leadership Panel

The RSO Circle K International together with the Office for Social Justice and Diversity will host a Women’s Leadership Panel March 8, 2024, 1 – 2 p.m. in University Hall 1010. 

March 28, 2024 (Audition forms due March 8)All Femme Everything 

Celebrate Women’s History Month with the OSJD at All Femme Everything: A Celebration of Womanhood, Sisterhood, and Femininity. In honor of the 2024 Women’s History Month theme “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion,” All Femme Everything showcases  women of diverse backgrounds and experiences in the University community in the performing and visual arts. All Femme Everything is co-sponsored by the Office of Student Belonging, Daughta Speaks and The Brotherhood La Hermandad. Women and Femme-identifying students are invited to audition in everything from dancing to singing to acting to poetry or visual performance artistry. Audition forms due by March 8.

March 19, 2024Guess Who: HerStory

Join the sisters of Omega Phi Chi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. for a fun and educational event based on Women’s History Month on March 19, 2024, 8:45 – 11 p.m. in University Hall 2046. 

March 20, 2024 – LASO

Join the Latin American Student Organization (LASO) for an event to delve into the inspiring journeys of remarkable women throughout history. Learn, discuss and celebrate their incredible contributions. March 20, 2024, 3:30 – 5 p.m. in University Hall 1030.

March 23, 2024 – Mariposas Poderosas

The Dominican Student Organization will host a dinner in honor of Women’s History Month. This event will be a butterfly theme brunch, in tribute to the Dominican historical women “Las Mariposas” with food, music and good vibes. The event is open to all Montclair State University undergraduate students. On March 23, 2024, 7-10 p.m., in the Student Center 250AB, Ballrooms A and B.

March 25, 2024 (registration required by March 19) – Our Bodies Tell the Story

The Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) in celebration of Women’s History Month hosts an evening of literature, dialogue and community-building led by Professor Monica Taylor, the director of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies. The discussion will explore thought-provoking insights from her recent book Our Bodies Tell the Story: Using Feminist Research and Friendship to Re-imagine Education and Our Lives. March 25, 2024, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the Feliciano School of Business, Room 140

March 24, 2024 – Women’s Appreciation Dinner

The Brotherhood La Hermandad hosts a Women’s Appreciation Dinner on March 24, 2024, 6-10 p.m. in the Student Center 250 Ballrooms A and B.

Mar 28, 2024 – Women’s Gala

LadiesFIRST hosts its annual Women’s Gala honoring all women on and off campus on March 28, 2024, 7-10 p.m. in the Student Center 250, Ballrooms A, B and C.
