Since earning my doctorate in 2007, my scholarly focus is on excellence in clinical practice, advance practice nurse doctoral preparation, and certification for the advanced practice nurse. Beginning my appointment in 2016 with the Montclair State University School of Nursing, my goals include (1) excellence in clinical practice, (2) leadership in nursing education, and (3) developing a School of Nursing with a commitment to patient safety, quality, and leadership in trans-professional care delivery. The first step to accomplish these goals is to deliver evidence based practice in a community based setting as a family nurse practitioner and to disseminate the clinical scholarship of that role. Next is to ensure the new School utilizes best practice in undergraduate nursing education. The third goal will be achieved by curriculum development which is innovative, evidence based, and focuses on inter-disciplinary care, education, and communication. The result is an institution which prepare clinicians ready to meet the nation’s health care needs.
