Profile

Tommy Schrider is a professional actor and educator who teaches in the BFA Acting Program at Montclair State. He appeared on Broadway in War Horse (Vivian Beaumont), as well as off Broadway at theaters including Red Bull, Theater For A New Audience, Ensemble Studio Theater, Irish Rep, Keen Company, Rattlestick Theater, BAM, Baruch/Rip Time, Classic Stage, NYTW, Urban Stages, and PROTOTYPE Festival. Regionally, he has appeared at many theaters including Yale Rep, South Coast Rep, Westport Country Playhouse, Berkshire Theater Festival, Huntington, Cincinnati Playhouse, Syracuse Stage, Williamstown, Actors Theater of Louisville, Shakespeare & Company. He has worked on new play development at Manhattan Theater Club, The Lark, MCC Theater, JAW Festival and New Dramatists, where he was also received the Charles Bowdan Acting Award. His TV appearances include The Americans (recurring), POSE, The Blacklist, Elementary, The Enemy Within, The Good Fight, Madam Secretary, Person of Interest, Medium.

Most recently, Tommy appeared off Broadway in Three Sisters at The Sheen Center and an off Broadway developmental workshop of a new play. He also appeared on the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's podcast production of Pericles (Ellen McLaughlin adaptation) produced by Next Chapter Podcasts.

Tommy teaches the year long Junior BFA Acting class and Senior BFA Audition Prep. He directs the Senior BFA Industry Showcase and has also directed productions for the BFA Acting Program including a self-written adaptation of "Enemy Of The People" and "The Last Days of Judas Iscariot". He will be directing "Everybody" at Montclair State in Winter 2022.

Tommy also teaches in the BFA Acting Program at Long Island University Brooklyn/The New Group. He was recently awarded the Ron Van Lieu Fellowship by the National Alliance of Acting Teachers and completed the TDP training program in June 2022. He received his MFA in Acting at NYU.
