On Monday, February 3, SCM students got a taste of the financial side of branding when renowned consumer brand analyst Kristin Bentz spoke with student members of the PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America). Bentz joined the conversation via Skype and talked to students about how financial considerations are weighed before companies make decisions on brands and brand extensions.  She also discussed the current “retail ice age” and why brands need to understand how the shrinking world of bricks and mortar retailing will affect them.

Two days later, Bentz appeared on Stuart Varney’s morning show, Varney and Company, on Fox Business to discuss that very issue.

Bentz has taken on many roles over the years but is best known as an analyst and consultant for major luxury brands. She’s been featured as an expert on consumer trends and is a regular contributor for Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. She’s also appeared on CNBC and Good Morning America, and has been featured in publications like The New York Times, Women’s Wear Daily, Glamour and the Wall Street Journal. She is also a Wall Street veteran, and served as an analyst in the consumer brands sector for Lehman Brothers.
