Montclair’s Radio Station 90.3 WMSC-FM will broadcast live from Montclair’s inaugural Porchfest this Saturday, May 17. This community music festival will showcase local musical talent performing throughout the town on residential porches, driveways, and yards.
“I’m so excited to see so many Jersey local bands perform! It’s not everyday that you get to see so many talented people performing all in one space, which makes this event even more cool. New Jersey is such a melting pot of genres and artists that it’s going to be really fun seeing so many diverse bands performing. I can’t wait to see some familiar faces, find some new bands to love, and enjoy hearing music all day!” said Alyssa Arroyo, WMSC’s Engineering Director.
The festival will feature over 150 bands across 60 porches throughout Montclair from Noon to 5 p.m. The event will culminate with a final performance at 64 Upper Mountain Avenue, Montclair, NJ 07042, headlined by Baby Maurice of the Georgia Satellites. Additional performances will include School of Rock Montclair, Joe Colwell and The Mutts. Special appearances will feature James “Murr” Murray, Mayor Baskerville, and No. 95 Candles.
WMSC-FM, which is part of Montclair’s School of Communication and Media, will cover live performances across the town from 1 to 4 p.m. The station’s broadcast tent will be located at 193 Cooper Avenue in Montclair where attendees can visit for on-air opportunities, music, and interactive activities. WMSC will broadcast from the main stage from 5-6 p.m. at 64 Upper Mountain Avenue.
Notable sponsors for the event include Downtown Montclair and Montclair Brewery.
