The Joetta Di Bella and Fred C. Sautter III Center for Strategic Communication is a state-of-the-art communications hub at Montclair State’s School of Communication and Media. It is home to social listening platforms, content creation apps and consumer insights tools, and is used for instructional, research and co-curricular activity. Through research, reports, community events and special projects, the Center will enhance the School’s profile as an authority on social media analytics while preparing our students for our data driven world. The tools will also allow faculty and students to work on research projects that focus on economics, health, politics, social justice, sports and other key societal issues, which will create earned media opportunities for the School and assist faculty with publishing and other efforts. The tools are also available for research on the #Focus project each semester.
Resources and Tools
For the ’22-23 Academic Year, we are using Keyhole.co as our social media listening, analytics and influencer monitoring tool. Keyhole will be utilized for upper-level social media courses, faculty projects and special events. For media monitoring and to learn about how to search what topics journalists are writing and telling stories about, students can get free access (through their instructor) to Muckrack. Other resources and training will be available.
Training will either be provided or shared (i.e., tutorials) as needed based on the platform, classroom use and demand.
Calendar and Availability
The Center is open to students, faculty, and staff, by appointment. The Center is also used for classes and co-curricular activities and meetings, so an appointment is required to gain access. If you want to use the tools available while also using the Center to collaborate on a project or for research, contact Keith Green via firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Center is formerly known as Room 1011 in the School of Communication and Media building next to the News Lab.
