Profile

Dr. Te Wu has been teaching at Montclair State University since 2002. Over the years, he has taught Management Process, Cross Cultural Management, and International Business to the undergraduate. Since 2007, Professor Wu has been teaching both graduate and undergraduate project management courses and also pioneered a hybrid format for the course in 2010. He is currently the lead professor for project management courses at our school.

Prof. Wu has three major "jobs". In addition to his work at Montclair, Prof. Wu is the CEO of PMO Advisory LLC (http://www.pmoadvisory.com), a PMI Authorized Training Partner (PMI ATP). PMO Advisory is one of the few companies in the world offering courses and bootcamps in Project Management (PMP, CAPM), Program Management (PgMP), Portfolio Management (PfMP), Risk Management (PMI-RMP), and Agile Project Management (PMI-ACP). Prof. Wu is a leading expert in Strategic Business Execution with almost 30 years of experience helping businesses become better organized and achieve their objectives. His experience spans across business and IT strategy, program and project delivery, project management office, and operational management. Te is one of few professionals certified in Portfolio, Program, Project, and Project Risk Management. His book on passing the PfMP exam is frequently the bestselling book on Amazon.com.

Volunteering is Prof. Wu's final set of jobs. As a frequent volunteer with the Project Management Institute (http://www.pmi.org), Prof. Wu is currently a co-chairperson leading the development of the next edition of the Standard for Portfolio Management. He was previously a core team member on the Standard for Portfolio Management team and a risk management standard, a member of the CAPM Learning Objectives Task Team, a member of the CAPM Q&A team, and an active member of multiple PMI Chapters (New Jersey and New York). He was a team lead with the American National Standard Institute's Technical Advisory Team 258 (US TAG 258) representing American interests on the International Standard Organization.

At a practical level, Te’s specialty is managing complex business programs and project portfolios. He is expert at using PMO for transformational change, mastering data management, and overseeing offshore delivery and global procurement. Te has worked for a number of global companies, including KPMG, Accenture, LexisNexis, AT&T, Oracle, and Kraft. Working as a management consultant, Te has lent his expertise to a number of world-class clients, including Harley Davidson, Standard and Poor’s, Consumer Union, Time Inc., Bankers Trust, Chase Bank, Corning Inc., AXA Financials, and KCG. Te also works with non-profit organizations and educational institutions such as College Board, Columbia University Teacher School Innovation, Stevens Institute of Technology, Montclair State University, State University of New York, the Access Group, New Century Education Foundation, Lumina Foundation, Weill Cornell Medical School, and most recently American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Te is a frequently speaker at project management conferences, the latest being the PMI Global Summit in 2022 in Las Vegas, PMI Global EMEA Congress in Rome (May 2017) and PMI China Symposium in Shanghai (September 2017). Prof. Wu also guest speaks at various universities including Stevens Institute of Technology, China European International Business School, State University of New York, City University of New York, and Touro Graduate School of Business.

Te is an alumnus of Pace University, Columbia University, University of Phoenix, and Stevens Institute of Technology and holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Chemical Engineering and Philosophy, dual master’s degrees in Industrial Engineering, Global MBA, and a doctorate in Management and International Business.
