Turn your passion for movement into a teaching career. If you hold a bachelor’s degree and want to become a certified Physical Education teacher, Montclair State University’s Health & Physical Education Instructional Certification (P–12) is your pathway to the classroom. This program prepares you with the knowledge, skills and field experience needed to teach physical education effectively in today’s schools.
Upon completion, you’ll be recommended to the State of New Jersey for initial teacher certification (Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing, CEAS). This credential allows you to teach in New Jersey public schools and provides reciprocity in many other states.
Montclair’s Teacher Education Program, accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) since 1954, is nationally recognized as a model for excellence in teacher preparation. See the curriculum.
