This STEM-Designated program equips you with advanced, hands-on training across a broad range of security topics. Designed to accommodate professionals from diverse academic backgrounds, this program combines core cybersecurity fundamentals with flexible elective options. You’ll explore both technical and managerial aspects of the field, including legal, ethical, and policy-related issues.

No BS in Computer Science? No Problem!

The MS in Cybersecurity is not only for students who already hold a BS in Computer Science. Even if you have limited or no background in Computer Science and/or Information Technology, you may still be accepted into the program after the completion of 1-4 additional courses in Computer Science Fundamentals.

Admission Requirements

  • Equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree.
  • Applicants with non-U.S. degrees: Please visit the international applicants page to review U.S. degree equivalency information.
  • Students are directly welcome into the program if they have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology. Students who wish to make a career change and have limited or no background in Computer Science and/or Information Technology will be accepted under the condition of bridging the gap through a program of study that will require anywhere from one to four courses in Computer Science Fundamentals (CSIT 501 Java Programming, CSIT 502 Computer Systems Principles, CSIT 503 Data Structures and CSIT 504 Discrete Mathematics in Computing). These additional courses do not count towards degree credit.

Application Checklist

Application Deadline: Rolling admission.

  1. Online Application: Submit application and $60 non-refundable fee (or waiver if applicable).
  2. Transcript: One from each college attended.
  3. Essays/Personal Statement: Please write an integrated essay providing a response to each of the following questions:
    • What are your goals for graduate study and your future career?
    • In what ways do your academic background and your professional experiences provide evidence of your potential for success in the program you selected and in your eventual career? Please give specific examples of relevant coursework and/or experience.
    • Is there any further information we should consider in assessing your candidacy?
  4. Letters of Recommendation: Two (2) letters of recommendation, from persons qualified to evaluate the applicant’s promise of academic achievement and potential for professional growth.
  5. Resume: Required
