General Election Countdown0days0hours0minutes0secondsAs part of the 2025 election cycle in New Jersey, voters will have the opportunity to elect the state’s next Governor, State Senator, members of the General Assembly and various local and state-level representatives.
Early voting will be available across the state beginning Saturday, October 25 and will conclude on Sunday, November 3. Election Day is on Tuesday, November 4, polls will be open from 6 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Mikie Sherrill (Democrat)
- Former Navy helicopter pilot and federal prosecutor, representing New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District since 2018
- Won the Democratic primary on June 10, 2025, after securing broad support from county organizations and establishment groups
- Campaign focuses on economic affordability, government efficiency, and casting New Jersey as a place to “grow your dreams”
Jack Ciattarelli (Republican)
- Former New Jersey Assemblyman (2011‑2018) and small‑business owner from Somerville
- Won the Republican primary decisively with about 67% of the vote and endorsement from former President Trump
- Advocates for capping property taxes, reducing state spending, and consolidating state transportation authorities into a single agency
District 35 (Bergen + Passaic Counties)
Benjie E. Wimberly (D, Incumbent)
- Representing Paterson region in Senate; previous Assembly service and long-standing local presence.
- Focuses include urban education, economic opportunity, and public safety.
Frank G. Filippelli (R, Challenger)
- Local Republican endorsed by both Bergen and Passaic county Republican committees.
- Running on issues like property tax reform and constituent services.
District 34 (Essex County – includes Bloomfield, Little Falls, Montclair)
Carmen T. Morales (Democrat – Incumbent)
- Took office in January 2024 after being appointed to fill an open seat, now seeking election to a full term
- Principal of Newark Tech High School and instructional leader for Essex County Schools of Technology; holds degrees from Montclair State, Fairleigh Dickinson, and pursued doctoral work at Seton Hall
- Serves on the Assembly’s Commerce, Economic Development and Agriculture, and Education committees; focuses on workforce development and education equity
Michael Venezia (Democrat – Incumbent)
- Became an Assemblymember in January 2024 after resigning as Bloomfield’s mayor; previously served multiple terms on the town council and as acting mayor
- Works as the Human Resources Director for Essex County Schools of Technology; educational background from Monmouth University and Fairleigh Dickinson
- As mayor, prioritized sustainability, local infrastructure upgrades, and community programming; now voices these issues at the state level in Trenton
Lorenzo Marchese Jr. (Republican – Challenger)
- Won the Republican primary on June 10, 2025, securing one of two GOP nominations for District 34
- Local chiropractor and community activist in Essex County; Republican nominee for Assembly seat in current general election
Demetrius Eley (Republican – Challenger)
- Also advanced from the June 10 GOP primary as the second Republican nominee for the Assembly race in District 34
- Community activist and engagement organizer with campaign emphasis on public safety, local accountability, and constituent outreach
