Discovering classical New York

A Zoom event will be hosted by the Department of Classics and General Humanities and the Institute for the Humanities at 5.30 p.m., Thursday, October 13, 2022, with Matthew McGowan, co-editor of the book Classical New York: Discovering Greece and Rome in Gotham (New York: Fordham University Press, 2018), which deals with how “the visual language of Greek and Roman Antiquity” impacted “some of New York’s most iconic buildings, public monuments, and civic spaces.” Matt will talk about the inspiration behind the collection of essays, his contribution to them, and entertain questions.  Zoom link below.
