Blockchain is garnering much attention and offers the potential for interesting employment opportunities for CS and IT majors. Montclair State University’s Continuing and Professional Education (CAPE) unit has been recognized by both the higher education periodicals (InsideHigherEd1) and the business press (Forbes2) as taking a leading role in preparing the preparing students for success in a blockchain enabled economy. In addition, the Executive Director of the Continuing and Professional Education (CAPE), Dr. Peter McAliney, has been appointed as the lead for the “Universities and Education” Community of Interest of the Government Blockchain Association3. The new CAPE unit is committed to supporting student success in this new field, and is looking at two on campus initiatives related to Blockchain.
Enter the Blockchain Club! Dr. McAliney is looking for some entrepreneurial students who are interested in continuing the blockchain club on campus. Given the wide ranging potential impact and use cases for blockchain, it would draw students from many disciplines across all colleges at the University. This is a great leadership opportunity for both the students themselves and CSAM as a whole within the university-wide community.
