Certificate

A college professor helps a student with a class project at Montclair State University.

If you want to ignite curiosity and critical thinking in your students, Montclair’s Inquiry-Based Teaching and Learning Certificate will give you the tools to make learning more engaging and meaningful.

This 9-credit program is designed for educators who want to create classrooms where students actively explore questions, investigate problems, and construct their own understanding. You’ll learn how to design lessons that spark inquiry, foster collaboration, and connect academic content to real-world applications.

Coursework focuses on the theory and practice of inquiry-based instruction, formative assessment strategies, and ways to support diverse learners through open-ended, student-driven learning experiences. You’ll also explore how to integrate technology, interdisciplinary projects, and community connections to deepen student engagement.

Taught by faculty with expertise in innovative pedagogy, the program blends research-based approaches with practical strategies you can apply immediately in your classroom. The flexible, asynchronous format allows you to earn your certificate while continuing to teach full time.

If you’re ready to transform your classroom into a place where curiosity drives achievement, Montclair’s Inquiry-Based Teaching and Learning Certificate will help you make it happen.
