Leverage your French fluency into an asset. With Montclair State’s Graduate Certificate in Professional French Translation, you will build the skills needed to translate between English and French in fields where precision is everything, including health, law, business and media, and culture.
This four-course, 12 credit program includes three core sequence courses covering tools like computer-assisted translation and specialized workshops in business, media, legal, medical, and technical translation. You will also choose one elective that focuses on translation theory, interpreting, or cultural contexts.
Montclair’s prime location near New York City gives you access to global industries, media organizations, and government bodies, an ideal setting if you want to build professional networks while you study.
You are eligible to enroll in this certificate program if you hold a bachelor’s degree and have completed at least 24 semester hours of French, or can show equivalent proficiency.
If you later pursue the full MA in French with a Professional Translation Concentration, this certificate aligns directly with that program and your credits can apply toward the degree.
Whether you want to test the waters or take the plunge into a translation career, this certificate is a strategic move as a professional with French fluency. See the curriculum.
